Remembering a Napalm Death dead guy

Napalm Death posted the above photo on their Facebook Page earlier today along with the message, "Happy birthday brother we miss you... "

The photo is of the late Jesse Pintado, guitarist for Grindcore pioneers Terrorizer and of course, Napalm Death.  He also played with Brujeria.

Jesse was with Napalm death starting with 1990's "Harmony Corruption" album through 2004's "Leaders Not Followers Pt. 2" covers album.  His work with the band speaks for itself.  A brutal guitarist.

Pintado died in 2006 at the age of 37 after entering a diabetes-induced coma.  C.O.D. was liver failure.  Excessive drinking was allegedly a key player.

Too young.  Too soon.  Too bad.

My uncle had a saying that's stuck with me over the years.  "Lose your head, and your ass will surely follow."

I was fortunate enough to see Napalm Death touring on the "New Titans on the Block" Tour with Sepultura, Sacred Reich and Sick of It All.  EPIC...FREAKING...SHOW.

On my way to get a drink between the Reich and Sep sets, my friends and I noticed this dude with crazy long black hair back by the bar.  Sure as sin, it was Jesse.  Being dumb kids with nothing in the way of manners impeding us, we approached Jesse and hit him up for autographs.

Without being a dick about it, Jesse replied, "I'm really not that sort of guy, man."  He seemed a bit shy and embarrassed about the whole thing, really.

But, being star-struck metal nerds who lurved us some Napalm Death, my idiot friends and I insisted.  Jesse relented and signed whatever crap we had on us at the time.  For me, it was my ticket stub, a stub I still have to this day.

R.I.P. Mr. Pintado.
