I think I know now why my Mom supposedly "checked' my Halloween candy each year before I ate it. It wasn't to check for needles in the candy...it was to steal all my Reese Peanut Butter Cups!!!
Being a parent now I realize that parents, although they don't eat as MUCH candy as the kids, still enjoy partaking in the deliciousness that IS Halloween.
I did some research and it turns out that there has only been ONE documented case of candy being "tampered" with by somebody handing it out for Halloween. It happened in Minneapolis in 2000 and you can read about it via www.snopes.com HERE: http://www.snopes.com/horrors/mayhem/needles.asp
I would go by the old saying "better safe than sorry" in this case tho...you can never be too safe. Happy Trick-or-Treating and leave your kids at least a FEW Reese's!!
(Just in-case you want to DEEP FRY some candy bars you get...here is a good recipe...just remove all pins first lol...)
