1968. The year Led Zeppelin played their first show and Cream played their last show. Yes, Black Sabbath, Rush, Free and Deep Purple were ready to launch an assault on Rock and Roll. Elvis made a comeback and the Beatles were off to India. We had Viet Nam, assassinations and the first Big Mac. Civil Rights marches were common on college campuses and Rowan and Martin’s “Laugh-In” was the big new show on the tube. During the tumultuous year of 1968, music went a long way to ease tensions, inspire and motivate a new generation. We’ll pick nine great songs for our Wozz Nine at Nine, right after Bob & Tom tomorrow.
