BOX TOPS - Top Football Hype songs for a rock mix-tape

Posted by Lunchbox on

I always see people post TOP 10 OF THIS CRAP or TOP 5 OF THAT CRAP, and I NEVER agree with their lists...so I thought I would just start making my own. You can agree, or hate everything I say, but I though I would start with a list of the Top Football Hype songs to toss on a rock mix-tape. Since its Bears vs. Packers tonight, I think it works...No "We Are The Champions" no Gary Glitter on this list...this is a LEGIT list to hype you up...I didn't put numbers on them, but consider them counting down, with Iron Maiden at #53, and the #1 song at the bottom.

***THE VIDEOS ON THIS LIST HAVE NSFW LYRICS***

Iron Maiden "The Trooper" - The band and song are timless...I'll take it!

Kid Rock “American Bad Ass” -
This one if for the ego, just sing it...
Metallica "Enter Sandman"
- Again, it's a staple
Anthrax “Bring The Noise”  -
This is a fun one to mix in a few hours before game time, but not one for just before kickoff
Nonpoint "In The Air Tonight"
- Same as above...
White Zombie "More Human Than Human" -
A little Zombie love in the mix
GNR "Welcome to the Jungle"
- If anyone ever leaves this off a "hype" mix, they're crazy
AC/DC "Hells Bells"
- Just that intro, you know S is about to go down
Three Days Grace "Riot"
- Listen to it, smash stuff.
Foo Fighters "Pretender"
- I had to find a way to sneak the Foo onto the list...
Disturbed "10,000 Fists"
- This won't be there last time on the list.
Coheed & Cambria "Welcom Home"
- Could be a little off-the-radar for this list, but the build up leads to a massive hammer drop, just mix it in, it works!

Pantera “Walk”  - Cause Pantera wouldn't work
Shinedown “Devour”
- I found myself mixing more Shinedown into the list than I would have expected...their good at the motivation rock thing
Rage against the machine "No Shelter"
- Oh Rage, your name has RAGE in it, you do this kind of thing well
Powerman 5000 "Bombshell”
- PERFECT! Just wish it was a little more violent

Slayer - “War Ensamble”
- Better fit than "Raining Blood"? YES.
Hollywood Undead "Undead" -
Good way to break up the metal and keep the motivation
Godsmack "I Stand Alone"
- Godsmack is angry enough to land a few others on the list too
Static X "I'm The One" -
Wayne's anger is as big as his hair. These guys thrash hard on this one

Five Finger Death Punch "Under and Over It" -
A few more years and albums, these guys could put out a greatest hits of all "pump up" songs
Adelitas Way “Sick” -
Again, off script, but I really like it in this kind of mix
Rob Zombie "Demon Speeding" -
More Zombie love
Saliva "Ladies & Gentlemen" -
The one thing I think Saliva did well was the hype song, great example here
Godsmack "Awake" -
More Godsmack, their old school albums could be pump up mix-tapes on their own
System of a Down "Chop Suey!"
- SOAD rides a fine line between pumping you up, and confusing you...this one works for plan A
Shinedown "Diamond Eyes" -
Again, I was VERY surprised how much Shinedown I worked into this list, they are a good hype band
Avenged Sevenfold “Nightmare”
- A7X could be insane, and that works for this
10 Years “Shoot It Out” -
Just like A7X, I'm not sure if these guys are 100% with us, but this songs bangs for this
Breaking Benjamin "Blow Me Away" -
I should point out, I'm looking at the NEWER version of this cut, the original wouldn't make the list
Slipknot "Before I Forget" -
Slipknot brings a lot of anger to the table, but the focus of the anger is needed for a hype list, so this fits

Rage Against The Machine “Renegades of Funk” -
Again, RAGE is in their name
Godsmack "Whatever" -
Believe it or not, this isn't the last Godsmack song on the list
Rage against the machine "Testify" -
 Look at that, more RAGE
Linkin Park "Paper Cut" -
5 years ago, LP could have had more songs on here, but they lost their edge and didn't keep up
Disturbed "Indistructable"
- Its sad that Disturbed won't be putting out more angry songs like this one
Shinedown "Sound of Madness" -
Even a Shinedown hater would feel a little something with this one
Korn ft. Skrillex “Get Up” -
Dubstep made the list...
Lostprophets "Shinobi vs. Dragonninja" -
Call it a reach, I don't care, this is a SOLID song to put you in the frame of mind to run through a brick wall

Linkin Park/Jay-Z "Numb/Encore" -
Yes, it has a hip hop vibe, but so does Anthrax's "Bring The Noise" with Public Enemy...and its not your last dose on this list
Saliva "Click Click Boom" -
Again, Saliva was really, REALLY, good at the hype song
Sick Puppies "You're Going Down" -
Sometimes they go straight alt, but Sick Puppies brought the hammer with this one
Fort Minor "Remember The Name" -
A little more hip hop, but this is GOLD for a hype cut

Powerman 5000 "When Worlds Collide" -
PM5K creates an image in your mind of two forces in an epic battle with just one song
Limp Bizkit "Break Stuff" -
Look at the title
Godsmack "Crying Like a Bitch" -
Thank you Nikki Sixx for being a big enough D-Bag to inspire this song
Drowning Pool "Bodies" -
It has everything, building intro, loud vocals, and thrashing
Five Finer Death Punch "War is The Answer" -
If you don't feel it after listening to this cut, check your pulse
Disturbed "Down With The Sickness" -
One of the best hype songs ever, period.
Pop Evil "Last Man Standing" -
Pop Evil could have 3-4 spots on this list, but their lack of resume keeps them at one, even though it ends up in the top 3

Slipknot "Psychosocial"
- You WILL fell it after this one

Eminem "Till I Collapse" -
Its not even CLOSE to rock, but this song is SO powerfull as a hype cut, you have to respect it

Volbeat “Warrior's Call" -
This song blows it wide open now...people will HATE this pick for the top song, but people will also LOVE it...so I guess, let the debate begin
