Alabama did it again. Not only did they win a National title in college football earlier this year but yesterday they won the unofficial recruiting battle as well. Rivals.com rates the Crimson Tide 2013 class the best in the nation. It's the fifth time in six years they have won the honor.

So how did Wisconsin do. Well they didnt land any so-called 5 star blue chippers but new coach Gary Andersen, who only had six weeks to recruit and put a staff together, signed 17 scholarship players and two walk ons. The signings include in-state players Hayden Biegel from Wisconsin Rapids and TJ Watt from Pewaukee (he's the younger brother of JJ Watt). They also went the junior college route to land quarterback Tanner McEvoy. He's said to have good running and passing abilities and will have 3 years of eligibility. The QB position certainly seems crowded now so don't be surprised if one or 2 of them transfer.

Congrats also going to Connor Riese of DC Everest who was the only D-1 football signing from the Wausau area. He's going to Wyoming.

The Badgers made their free throws and got a double-double from Jared Bergrenn as they held off Iowa in double OT last night. They now have 3rd ranked Michigan coming to Madison on Saturday.

The Bucks dropped both games on their western trip losing in Denver and Utah. They have three winnable home games in a row  against Eastern teams starting saturday with Detroit.

Donald Driver made it official yesterday with his retirement ceremony at Lambeau. He will have a street named after him and also said he has no interest in being a coach becuase they spend way too much time in meetings.

I'll have high school hockey tonight as Wausau East hosts Wisconsin Rapids. It will be game one of our doubleheader followed by DCE-Merrill on Foxsports am1390 & fm 93.9. Game time is 7:15.
