The Green Bay Packers made their pitch to free agent running back Stephen Jackson but it wasnt enough. He signed on with Atlanta yesterday and now the Packers will probably look to the draft for running back help. I'm probably biased but they could do alot worse than giving Montee Ball a shot. The difference between Ball and guys they already have is that Ball can be a three down back. He can catch passes and is a good blocker as well...and we all know what he can do running the football. I know Badger fans usually look at Wisconsin players in a better light than many scouts but it also seems that the Packers have looked more critically at home grown players over the years than other NFL teams. Jackson would have been a good addition to the Packers. Even at the age of 30 I believe he has more gas in the tank than guys like Cedric Benson...but he's a Falcon now and if the Packers do want to upgrade their RB position they have to look beyond what they already have...and Ball will probably be there when they pick.
The Badgers get a tough matchup in the Big Ten Tournament this afternoon. Michigan dismnatled Penn State yesterday and now Wisconsin will have to contend with the Big Ten Player of The Year in Trey Burke and the other talentd Wolverines. You can hear the game on WSAU at 12:30.
Its a doubleheader of Badger action today. The mens' hockey team hosts Minnesota-Duluth in a best of three series beginning tonight. You can hear the game on WSAU at 6:30.
The Bucks also play tonight...beginning a three game homestand. They have lost 2 in a row and face a brutal matchup tonight. The Miami Heat come into town riding a 20 game winning streak. The Bucks have beaten the Heat this year...can they do it again??
The Brewers are back in action this afternoon after a rare day off. They host Cleveland. Team USA has to play a loser out game tonight in the World Baseball Classic against Puerto Rico. The US lost to the Dominican Republic last night 3-1.
Wisconsin Rapids Assumption advanced at the Girls State Basketball Championships with a 60-37 thumping of Wausau Newman.

If youre heading over to see Bob Seger in Minneapolis tonight you'll get an extra bonus...Kid Rock will be sharing the stage with Seger. He'll also be part of the bill at a show in Fargo on Saturday.
Songs Of The Day (from my I-pod)
Long Haired Country Boy-Charlie Daniels Band (1974) before he became a conservative icon...he was just a good ole boy from Tennesse. This was the 70's when songs with overt drug references got played on the radio all the time
Long Hard Ride-Marshall Tucker Band (1976) another example of 70's southern rock from this outstanding group from South Carolina. Led by the thumb-picking Toy Caldwell on guitar. Saw them at Quandt Fieldhouse in Stevens Point back in 1977.
