The Journal-Sentinel is reporting that the Packers are getting closer to opening the vault for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The report says that Rodgers could get 110-160 million dollars depending on the length of the deal. Up to 40 million could be guaranteed and the future salary cap hit could get as high as 20 million for one season. Some agents are shaking their heads wondering why the Packers don't wait on that extension and use this year to sign a few free agents and make another Super Bowl run. Rodgers contract has two more years to run but the Packers say they would like to seal a deal now to avoid Rodgers even getting a whiff of free agency. They did the same thing with Brett Favre years ago and he played out his 10 year deal. The risk of course is serious injury in the next two years and lets face it...Rodgers has had some injury problems. But if you can have the best quarterback in the NFL under a long-term deal and you have the money to do it without adversely affecting your chances to compete...you have to do it.
The Bucks beat Portland last night to pick up a half game in the standings on Chicago, Boston & Atlanta. They face the Hawks tonight in Georgia. Monta Ellis continued his torrid streak last night but also injured his wrist. He said he'll be ready for tonights game and the injury shouldnt affect him. You can hear the game on Foxsports AM1390 &FM 93.9.
Songs Of The Day (from my I-pod)
Long Live Rock-The Who (1974) the original lineup was awesome
Long May You Run-Stills-Young Band (1976) a Neil tune about his old hearse...the one he was riding in down the Sunset Strip when he met Steve Stills for the first time. This was the title track from the only album the two released together without Crosby & Nash although the two did sing some background vocals on the record
