MADISON, Wis. (WTAQ) - The Better Business Bureau says it’s getting fewer consumer complaints in Wisconsin, at a time when they’re going up nationally. The BBB handled about 15,000 complaints in the Badger State last year. That’s down 8 percent from the year before, while the number of consumer gripes rose by 10 percent throughout the country.
Ran Hoth of Wisconsin’s Better Business Bureau says retailers do a better job of evaluating customer needs – and the state’s strong consumer protection laws also help. Nationally, cell phone providers got the most complaints in 2009, along with banks and cable companies. In Wisconsin, new car dealers were the biggest target of consumer dissatisfaction.
