MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WTAQ) - A suburban Milwaukee man was being chased by police when he crashed into another car, and immediately shot and killed himself. The man was identified today as 40-year-old Douglas Fairbanks. Police also determined that the shooting was not accidental. South Milwaukee Police Chief Ann Willems said officers were doing surveillance work at Fairbanks’ home, after they got a complaint that he was involved in child pornography. He left his house about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday, and officers tried to stop him. Willems said Fairbanks led police on a chase, which ended when he struck another vehicle that was turning at an intersection. Police said a gun was fired within the man’s vehicle at the time of the crash. The other driver, a 23-year-old woman from Cudahy, was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and was later released.
