SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WHBL) - A pair of men are in custody after being charged with stealing tires from a bus company and selling them to area businesses.

41-year-old Frank Stone and 27-year-old Jason Baysinger are each implicated in the scheme in which they would take brand new semi-truck tires and sell them at a discount to trucking companies, receiving cash for the transactions.

The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department became suspicious after learning that multiple trucking companies had been purchasing new tires for well under retail, paying cash for the goods.

According to the criminal complaints, Stone used his job as a mechanic and tire inventory manager at Johnson Bus Company in Plymouth to gain access to the tires he would steal for resale. Stone would then employ Baysinger, who used to work for Johnson, to deliver the tires to various companies. Baysinger admitted to taking the tires from Johnson, but told detectives he thought Stone purchased them himself from the company to later re-sell. Stone denied taking or selling any tires.

A total of 12 tires were unaccounted for, valued at nearly $3,000.

If Stone is convicted, he could spend three and a half years in prison, while Baysinger could be sentenced to as much as nine months.
