WAUPACA, WI (WSAU) - The Wisconsin Veterans Home at King is one of the 750 nationwide locations participating in the Wreaths Across America ceremonies Saturday. All locations will be honoring veterans for their sacrifices at the same time, starting at 11:00 a.m.
The Civil Air Patrol has volunteered to conduct the WAA ceremony this year at the Central Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery. The program includes placing seven specially designated wreaths for the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant marine, and POW/MIA on memorials to honor the sacrifices of veterans, and teach our younger generations about the high cost of our freedoms.
The American Legion Riders of Central Wisconsin are also planning to place 400 sponsored wreaths on the headstones. Their goal is to eventually have a wreath on every headstone.
