MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - In Madison, three people suffered minor injuries this morning when their single-engine plane crashed, just after it started taking off from the Dane County Regional Airport. The three were taken to a hospital to get checked out. The Socata turbo-prop was registered to Wildcat Air of Franktown Colorado. Airport spokesman Brent McHenry said the plane deviated from the runway upon take-off around 8:30 – but he could not say why it happened. He said weather was not a factor, even though it was snowing at the time. McHenry said two small fires broke out after the crash – and one might have involved a piece of equipment that was away from the aircraft. He said both fires were put out in a matter of five minutes. The airport was closed for about a half-hour, and it re-opened just after nine. The FAA is on its way to investigate.
