MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin's legal guardians could soon have more stringent reporting requirements for their childrens' deaths and disappearances.

The State Assembly approved the changes on a 92-2 vote Tuesday night. They now go to the Senate.

Under the bill, guardians would have to immediately report a child's death to law enforcement. They would also have to report missing children within 24 hours for kids under 13 -- within two days for kids 13-16 -- and within 3 days for missing children 16 and older.

The bill also prohibits moving or hiding a child's corpse in order to collect government benefits.
