MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - Two long-time Wisconsin senators will square off in April to become the next Milwaukee city treasurer.

Democrats Spencer Coggs and Tim Carpenter easily won Tuesday's primary over two other challengers -- former state Treasurer Dawn Marie Sass and interpreter Rick Kissell.

Coggs and Carpenter are both trying to replace retiring Milwaukee Treasurer Wayne Whittow.

Coggs was in the state Assembly for 20 years before being elected to the Senate in a recall contest in 2003.

Carpenter is in his 10th year in the Senate after spending 18 years in the Assembly.
