MEDFORD, WI (WSAU) -  A man hung himself in a Taylor County jail cell Friday evening. 21-year-old Jesse Holz of Edgerton used a bed sheet to kill himself. Jailers cut him down and attempted to resuscitate him, but they were unsuccessful.

Taylor County officials have called in outside help to investigate the inmate’s death. Rusk County Sheriff’s investigators and the State of Wisconsin Department of Corrections Jail Inspector will independently look at the circumstances leading to Holz’s death.

Holz was in jail about a week facing misdemeanor charges.
