GREEN BAY (WSAU) The Packers are asking the NFL for a loan to help pay for the current expansion project at Lambeau Field. The issue is on the agenda for the NFL owners meeting, which begin yesterday in Chicago.

The Packers issues team stock last year, and raised about $64-million. That's a little less than half the project's overall cost. The team is getting another $21-million from the Green Bay-Brown County Stadium District. No taxpayer money is being used for project.

The Packers are enclosing the south end zone with about 6,000 new seats. The project is already underway, and should be competed for the start of the 2014 season.

The NFL has a loan fund for teams that want to make stadium and facility improvements. The Packers haven't decided if they'll ask for an additional loan next year for another project to move Curley's Pub and the Pro Shop to new locations in the Lambeau Field atrium.
