GRAND CHUTE, WI (WSAU) The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers advanced to the Midwest League Championship series last night with a 4-to-2 win over Clinton to sweep the Western Division Finals two-games-to-none.
Mark Williams gave up two runs – one earned – in eight innings, as the Brewers’ lower Class-“A” affiliate advanced to the title series for the first time since 2006. Williams gave up both his runs in the first inning and faced the minimum of 15 after that.
Wisconsin will now play either Lake County or Fort Wayne for the league title this week. Those two teams are tied at a game-apiece in the Eastern Division Finals. Lake County won Game-Two last night 7-to-4, and they’ll square off tonight in their third-and-deciding contest.
