MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Hunters as young as 10 will have a chance to bag a turkey in Wisconsin this weekend.
The annual two-day youth hunt takes place Saturday and Sunday. The purpose is to introduce the pleasures of turkey hunting to young people.
10 and 11-year-olds can join mentors in the field, even if they don’t have hunter safety education yet. But the mentors must stay close to the youngsters.
Those between 12 and 15 can be in the youth hunt if they’re with adults, and have completed hunter safety courses.
All kids must have valid turkey harvest permits, licenses, and stamps.
