Parks puts name in hat for vacant Sheriff position


WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) -  Marathon County is currently without a sheriff, as Randy Hoenisch has retired. Governor Scott Walker has requested interested law enforcement leaders to apply for the position. Many people have asked, “What about Chief Deputy Scott Parks?”  His answer:  "Yes, I intend to submit my name for the process."

When asked why would he want to become the sheriff, Parks says there’s some things he would like to accomplish in the department.  "I've been with the department for 33 years, and have been the Chief Deputy for the department since 2007.  There's some things I would like to see accomplished here, and one of the best ways to do that would be to become sheriff."

Whoever is appointed sheriff will complete Hoenisch’s term, which lasts until January 5th of 2015.

Application materials must be received by the Governor’s office no later than 8:00 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013.
