MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) Kyle Lohse will make his Milwaukee debut tonight, when the Brewers open a weekend series against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park. The 34-year-old right-hander went 30-and-11 with Saint Louis in his last two seasons, after suffering a rare injury in the covering of an arm muscle in 2010 when he was hit by a pitch against Kansas City. L

ohse was expected to be one of baseball’s top free-agent pitchers last winter – but teams shied away from his request for a four-year, 60-million-dollar deal. And because of a provision in the new collective bargaining agreement, teams would have had to give up a first-round draft pick – which they didn’t want to do.

The Brewers are giving up their 17th overall selection in June. But they virtually had no choice, after the young starters they were planning to go with struggled at Spring Training. Lohse ended up taking a three-year deal for 33-million. He only had one brief start this spring, but he insists he’s ready to go.

Left-hander Wade Miley will start tonight for the Diamondbacks. You can hear the game on WSAU at 6:35.
