MADISON, WI (WSAU) Wisconsin football fans braved a steady rain and 40-degree temperatures to watch a spring practice yesterday in Madison -- and they did not exactly see the Badgers’ best performance.
Quarterbacks Curt Phillips and Joel Stave each threw an interception – though Stave later threw a 20-yard touchdown pass while threading the needle between two defenders.
Kicker Jack Russell missed all four of his field goal attempts, while Kyle French made 2-of-4. Special teams’ coach Jeff Genyk said it was the first time all spring that his kickers struggled – and both must do a better job of handling rough weather.
Running back Melvin Gordon looked good, as he ran a 50-yard touchdown against the Badgers’ Number-One defense.
Fans will get a more detailed look at the Badgers on Saturday, when they play their annual Spring Game at Camp Randall Stadium.
