Lasee proposing legislation allowing wind turbine lawsuits

MADISON, WI (WSAU) -  A De Pere State Senator who strongly believes wind turbines can be a real danger is preparing legislation allowing people to sue the turbine owners and the land owners.

Republican Frank Lasee’s bill would enable people harmed by 500 food industrial wind turbines to sue for damages, including the loss of property value, medical expenses, moving costs, attorney fees, and pain and suffering due to wind towers that are too close to the victim’s property.

Lasee has sought a moratorium wind turbine construction based on studies that show the dangers to those who reside too close to the turbines. The Public Service Commission says the “scientific evidence does not support a conclusion that wind turbines cause adverse health outcomes.”

As of last year, Wisconsin had 11 commercial wind farms producing 634 megawatts of electricity.
