Mumford & Sons has just announced that they’ll be staging their own music festival in their hometown of London at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on July 6. Dubbed the Summer Stampede , the event will feature a headlining performance from Mumford as well as sets by Vampire Weekend , Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros , Ben Howard , Haim , and Bear’s Den .
Keyboard player Ben Lovett says the upcoming event makes up for the band missing their chance to perform at last year’s Olympics, due to their hectic touring schedule promoting their Grammy-winning album, Babel .
"You wait your whole life for the Olympics to turn up and as Londoners we were gutted to miss it," he tells BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat . "I guess this is a part of the legacy of that area, the fact they have thought to do shows there and we're going to be in the first wave of shows to happen. I am very, very honored about it."
Tickets for the Summer Stampede will go on sale on Friday at 9 a.m. local time.
