Expect new signage for Marshfield Clinic soon in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) - New state-of-the-art signs will soon be greeting visitors to Marshfield Clinic; and the latest green light for that project came Tuesday night when Marshfield’s Common Council approved the plan.

The city’s Director of Planning and Economic Development, Jason Angel says, “This is the largest sign permit request we have reviewed as a city.” Houston-based consultant Steve Neumann is working on the project for the clinic, who added that a Virginia-based company that works with Mercedes Benz designed the new hi-tech signs, which will be used for all phases of clinic operations.

Alderman Ed Wagner said that more than 260 signs were approved using what he called an “ingenious idea”. Instead of approving the plan on a sign-by-sign basis, the entire plan was OK’d based on a total maximum of 9,000 sq. feet of gross signage to be erected over the next five years.

The plan is so big that more than $10,000 will be paid to the city just for the permitting fees alone. The signs will go up in phases, and some of the new signs have already been tested in the clinic’s more rural locations like Athens, Arcadia and Hayward.
