WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) - It's the end of Small Business Week with the Wausau Chamber, and area leaders say they're pleased with the progress the business community has made.
Visitors packed the Small Business expo yesterday at the Patriot Center, exploring what businesses had to offer. Wausau mayor Jim Tipple says the business expo is a good way for businesses to get exposure they might not otherwise have. "This connects a lot of people, and I think people look forward to it." The annual event has grown to fill the entire Patriot Center in Rothschild.
Marathon County economic development director Dave Eckman says people should know that the expo is a positive for the region. "Knowing that our business are working locally to support each other, and if people were here right now, they'd feel a positive energy." Eckman says that business in the region is also improving, especially on the large end with a new buyer for the Brokaw paper mill and new owners for the Wausau Paper plants.
Small Business Week closes this afternoon with the annual recognition luncheon at the Holiday Inn and Suites in Rothschild.
