STEVENS POINT, WI - Portage County ended up with the property that was supposed to become a large water themed recreation site in Plover, but what are they going to do with it?
Corporation Counsel Mike McKenna says they’re going to sell the property to recover the back taxes. The former H-2-O project never really got off the ground, but has a large chunk of land just east of I-39 ripe for redevelopment.
McKenna says right now, they’re finding out what the property’s market value is by having it appraised. When the appraisal is done, the County Clerk will advertise for bids on the property.
McKenna believes the Clerk will be advertising for bids on the property within a month or two.
Part of the land involved is the former Tree Acres Golf Course site. McKenna says it is possible that a developer may come along and buy that portion of the property and re-establish the golf course.
