Wisconsin Rapids Boys and Girls Club officials receive ceremonial check after fundraiser concert held at Witter Field.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) - A baseball park turned concert site was a successful fundraiser for a Wisconsin Rapids organization. The Wisconsin Rapids Rafter worked with several sponsors to bring country music singer Josh Thompson to Witter Field last Friday.

Robert Wefel is the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area. He announced yesterday the concert drew about 650 people and raised over $10,400 to support the club.

The Boys and Girls Club of the Wisconsin Rapids Area serves the communities of Nekoosa, Port Edwards and Wisconsin Rapids. The Club provides outcome driven experiences with the goal of helping young people achieve academic success, develop good character and citizenship and live healthy lifestyles.

Local act “Raised Reckless” performed before Josh Thompson.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, Element Mobile, Samsung, Riverview Hospital and Solarus were the primary sponsors of the fundraiser concert. The dollars will go towards the club’s operating expenses.
