STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - Fire crews in Stevens Point are still on the scene of a fire that gutted a home on Reserve Street early this morning.
Fire crews were called to the home on the corner of Oak and Reserve around midnight for a call on a garage on fire. Assistant chief Bob Finn says they arrived to find the garage and house already in flames. "We put a fire company through the front door, pulling the ceiling, trying to get the fire knocked down in the attic, but we had to pull everyone back because the roof was starting to collapse."
Finn says the only injury in the fire was to the family's dog. "We rescued the dog and wound up putting the dog on oxygen with a doggie mask and an O2 Bottle."
Investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing. State fire investigators are on scene, but police declined to comment on the case.
