Wand sentenced to life in prison X3

DARLINGTON, Wis. (WSAU) - The Argyle teenager that helped his older brother set fire to a house, killing three children was sentenced to three life terms in prison Thursday.

19-year-old Jeremy Wand had asked to withdraw his guilty pleas, but Visiting Judge Thomas Vale said no. Wand had claimed he felt pressured to plead guilty to the charges, and that a letter allegedly sent to newspapers by Sharon Wand recanting her testimony brought up doubts about his guilt. The judge ruled the confessions Wand and his brother Armin allegedly made to police were far more important in the case.

A short time later, Judge Vale sentenced Wand to several concurrent life sentences. Wand will be eligible for release from prison to extended supervision in 35 years. If released, he would be on extended supervision at least 20 more years.

Wand was found guilty of three counts of first-degree intentional homicide, one count of attempted first-degree homicide, and arson.

When the fire was set at around 3:00 a.m. last September 7th, Armin Wand’s pregnant wife Sharon and children were sleeping in the home. 7-year-old Allen Wand, 5-year-old Jeffrey Wand , 3-year-old Joseph Wand died in the fire. Two-year-old Jessica Wand and her mother survived the blaze. Sharon Wand’s severe burns and injuries also caused the death of her unborn child.

Armin Wand is already in prison. He was sentenced to three life sentences without the possibility of parole plus 60 years.
