MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- So how’s retail spending been going here in Central Wisconsin leading up to Christmas? Terry Linduski is general manager of The Marshfield Mall, and he says, “I’d say it’s been a little bit slower than we would have expected, probably partially because of the weather.”
Linduski went on to say that, “Right now, most stores that I’ve talked with in the last few weeks since Black Friday have been at last year’s sales or within a couple percentage points, and we would have hoped that it would have been maybe a 5% increase.”
Linduski added that with time running out until Christmas, things are expected to pick up significantly in the next several days, regardless of the weather. Ultimately, Linduski says, the only numbers that really matter to retailers are the final sales figures, and those won’t be in until January.
