MADISON, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Wisconsin linebacker Chris Borland was named a first-team All-American yesterday by the Football Writers Association. The honor comes a day after the senior Borland made the Associated Press All-American second squad.
Borland is the first Badgers' defender to make the writers' first-team since Erasmus James did it in 2004.
Borland has led Wisconsin with 102 total tackles, to go with four sacks and a forced fumble in 11 games.
He has helped the Badgers rank second in the nation in scoring defense, as they get ready to face South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day in Orlando.
