Ex- Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy and his business partner Joe Sutton , the same guys who brought you the Bonzo Bash series of star-studded John Bonham tribute shows, have organized a new concert paying homage to late Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Randy Rhoads . The event, dubbed Randy Rhoads Remembered , will take place on January 25 at The Observatory in Santa Ana, California.
The show, which has been sanctioned by Rhoads' family, was put together with help from Randy's former Quiet Riot band mate Rudy Sarzo , who currently is playing bass with Geoff Tate 's Queensryche .
"Randy Rhoads Remembered is a unique celebration of his compositions and trail blazing guitar techniques," says Sarzo in a statement. "I'm extremely honored and excited to be a part of this significant event honoring my dear friend and band mate featuring his musical contributions with Ozzy Osbourne and rarely performed compositions from his Quiet Riot years."
Rhoads' brother Kelle will be a guest vocalist at the concert, which will feature a house band called The Madmen whose lineup will include Tichy and Sarzo. Among the many well-known rockers also set to take part in the event are ex- Scorpions guitarist Uli Jon Roth , Whitesnake's Doug Aldrich , Extreme 's Nuno Bettencourt , Guns N' Roses ' Ron "Bumblefoot" Thal , Night Ranger 's Brad Gillis , Machine Head 's Phil Demmel , L.A. Guns ' Tracii Guns and Dio 's Rowan Robertson .
The show will include performances of every song on Osbourne's classic solo albums Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman , as well as select Quiet Riot tunes from Rhoads' tenure with that group.
Rhoads was only 25 when he was killed in March 1992 in a plane crash in Leesburg, Florida, while on tour with Ozzy.
Meanwhile, another installment of the Bonzo Bash shows also will be held at The Observatory two days before the Randy Rhoads Remembered concert.
