RIB MOUNTAIN, Wis. (WSAU) - Granite Peak Ski Area in Rib Mountain is ending the year with a blast.
Vicki Baumann from Granite Peak says this is one of their busiest times of the year. "We're looking at the day after Christmas, up until January 4th, the holiday season. A lot of out of towners, a lot of people in Wausau for the holidays. This is really a strong week for us and we're looking forward to it."
The ski hill will also be lit up for New Years. Baumann says the party will be at the Chalet. "We have a band from 8:30 to 12:30... String Cheese will be here. We have fireworks at 6:30 and the Torchlight parade at 7 pm on New Year's Eve."
If you're a new skier or are looking to try your hand and pole at the hill, Baumann says they're very accommodating for new skiers. "We've got some great instructors up here, take a lesson, purchase a surface lift ticket. We offer free rental Monday nights and Wednesday nights, making it very affordable."
