2013 marked the return of rock heavyweights Pearl Jam , Fall Out Boy and Arcade Fire . All three groups put out new releases which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and also launched massive tours to promote the records.
Pearl Jam’s Lightning Bolt scored the band their fifth #1 album on the Billboard 200, topping the chart with over 166,000 copies sold its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Fall Out Boy’s Save Rock and Roll snagged the guys their second #1 album on the chart, racking up over 154,000 copies sold its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Arcade Fire’s Reflektor secured the band their second #1 album on the tally, with over 140,000 copies sold in its first week. Reflektor also debuted in the #1 slot on the U.K. album chart its first week out, according to the UK's Official Charts Company, making it their second consecutive album to score the top slot on that list, following 2010’s The Suburbs .
