RHINELANDER, WI (WXPR) - 7th District Congressman Sean Duffy held a series of meetings in the Northwoods Thursday, and he repeated a theme: The federal government is spending too much money.
On the pending sequestration, where if no agreement is reached to cut spending or raise revenues, automatic spending cuts go into effect. Duffy thinks automatic cuts are likely.
He says Medicare needs reform and Social Security needs tweeking to keep them solvent. He says most people over 55 will not feel much pain, but he says young people will feel the pain.
Duffy says medical costs are rising at about 8 percent a year.
The Congressman says he stops in every county in the large 7th Congressional District each year.
