MARSHFIELD (WSAU) A Marshfield man is headed to Las Vegas to compete in the National Grocery Bagging Championships this Sunday.

Jared Seidel is a bagger at Festival Foods, and says he received $500, a trophy, and an all-expenses paid trip to the Las Vegas competition for winning the title of Wisconsin’s best grocery bagger in late September.

If Seidel earns the national title, he’ll receive a $10,000 grand-prize and will appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” “The Late Show with David Letterman” and “The Today Show.”

In the state competition, Seidel said contestants were judged on speed, placement of groceries in the bags, number of bags used, and distribution of weight.

Seidel won his first statewide Grocery Bagging title back in 2009 and says he’s determined to bring home the national title this time around.
