Two separate snowmobiling incidents have left one man dead and authorities looking for another man.
Bayfield County deputies say a 22-year-old Bryant Wisconsin man died Friday east of Iron River when his snowmobile overshot a corner and struck a tree. That happened at about 11:45 p.m. moments after he passed other riders in his group.
The search will resume Monday morning on the Wisconsin-Minnesota border for a snowmobiler authorities believe broke through the ice on a remote part of the St. Croix River. Pine County Minnesota and Burnett County Wisconsin crews were called Saturday evening at 6:30 by two other riders who witnessed the man hit a large patch of open water. Searchers had to stop around 12:30 Sunday afternoon due to dangerous conditions.
The victim's names have not been released in either incident.
