MADISON, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) A high school quarterback from Florida says he’ll play his college football at Wisconsin. D-J Gillins, who’s starting his senior year at Ribault High School in Jacksonville, has given a verbal commitment to the Badgers.
He missed his most of last year with a torn A-C-L knee ligament, but he’s expected to be ready to return this fall. Gillins threw for over 27-hundred yards as a sophomore, with 31 touchdowns. Gillins committed to Texas Tech last fall – but he withdrew after coach Tommy Tuberville left for Cincinnati.
Gillins also had scholarship offers from Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Arizona, and Boston College. He is Wisconsin’s fourth known commitment over the last month, and the 11th in all for the 2014 recruiting class.
