ABBOTSFORD, Wis. (WSAU) - A healthcare worker from Spencer has lost her nursing license after being caught taking patient medications from her employer.
51-year-old Patricia Pokallus has been charged with one felony count of obtaining controlled substances by fraud. Pokallus is accused of taking the anti-anxiety drug Lorazepam from the Golden Living Center at Continental Manor in Abbotsford and then reporting that her patients took the prescriptions as instructed.
Pokallus told her employer she used the medication herself, and admitted taking Lorazepam from the facility on several other occasions. She was tested for drugs February 3rd, and the test came back positive for Lorazepam, Clonazepam, Oxazepam, Morphine and marijuana. Pokallus was fired after the incident, and her license was suspended May 9th. She can apply for a stay of that suspension August 9th, but if granted, would have to work under direct supervision and have no access to controlled substances.
The complaint was filed in Marathon County Circuit Court last week. Court appearances have not been scheduled yet.
