Forecast shows Wisconsin's economy will keep moderate growth

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin’s economy will keep growing at a moderate pace into next year.

That’s according to the latest forecast issued Friday by the state Revenue Department.

The agency predicts that 31,000 jobs will be added throughout the Badger State during 2013. That’s the same pace as the last two years, when 62,000 jobs were added.

Revenue officials say the unemployment rate will be 6.9 percent for this year, and will drop to 6.5 percent in 2014. The jobless rate has dropping almost steadily for about the last four years. It peaked at 9.2 percent in the middle of 2009.

Last month, the state’s unemployment fell to 6.8%.

The Revenue Department also said personal incomes would grow by 1.9 percent this year – and as the economy keeps improving, it predicts a larger increase of 4.6 percent in 2014.

Also, the housing market continues to show growth in the Badger State. Moderate growth is projected to continue for the rest of this year.
