Wisconsin Congressman Ryan touts immigration plan

RACINE, WI (WTAQ) - Wisconsin U.S. Representative Paul Ryan has revealed a plan to push immigration reform into law.

Rep. Ryan, a Republican, talked about immigration reform during a town hall meeting in Racine on Friday.

The Senate passed a reform bill that includes a 13-year plan for citizenship to an estimated 11 million people.

Ryan’s plan for the House calls for a 15-year path with eligibility for a probationary visa.

Opponents of Ryan’s plan say they’re encouraged the Representative is taking charge of the issue, but he lacks specifics to his plan and do not agree with a probationary visa.

The House will now take up the immigration bill, which could see a vote on the issue by October.
