It’s official: Queens of the Stone Age has scored their first #1 album on the Billboard 200.
…Like Clockwork secured the #1 slot this week with over 91,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. QOTSA’s highest-charting release before now was 2005’s Lullabies to Paralyze , which both debuted and peaked at #5 on the list with 97,000 copies sold its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
In addition, …Like Clockwork got the top spot on Billboard ’s Vinyl Albums chart. …Like Clockwork racked up 12,000 LPs sold in its first week, making it the second-biggest sales week for a vinyl album since SoundScan launched the chart in January 2010. The biggest-selling vinyl album so far is Daft Punk 's Random Access Memories , which sold 19,000 LPs when it debuted two weeks ago.
Megadeth also scored a top-10 position on the Billboard 200 this week. Their fourteenth studio album, Super Collider , clocked in at #6 on the tally with 29,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The last time Megadeth visited the top 10 was with 1994’s Youthanasia , which debuted and peaked at #4 on the list with 143,000 copies sold its first week out.
