UNDATED (WSAU) - The local Wisconsin tradition of going out to pick strawberries may be starting a little late this year.
The unusually rainy spring has stalled the growing seasons of strawberries and blueberries across the area. Pick Your Own fields are usually up and operating at this time, but a number of area growers say they're looking at delayed starts. Growers are seeing berries getting large from all the rain, but that just aren't ripe enough yet to pick.
Lakeview Berries in Mosinee reports they'll be open for picking Monday morning according to their Facebook Page. Other area growers are shooting for an opening the first week of July.
