WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- The name of the Wausau area woman killed in a deadly three-vehicle accident Monday has been released. She was 85-year-old Frances M. Wilk.
Wilk was southbound on 17th Avenue in her Ford Taurus waiting in line behind a truck for the lights to change. The driver of a Ford Explorer sport utility vehicle rear-ended Wilk at a high rate of speed, crushing her car between the Explorer and the truck.
The crash happened at about 11:00 a.m. Monday. Wausau Police Department’s accident investigation team is still analyzing what happened. They spent about four hours at the scene taking measurements and gathering evidence.
The name of the driver in the Explorer has not been released. Police are considering what, if any, charges may be filed against him. The truck driver was not injured.
