BREAKING: Wisconsin Assembly Passes Budget Without Debate 55-42

MADISON, WI (WTAQ) - In an unusual move, the Wisconsin Assembly passed the proposed two-year state budget without much of a debate. The abrupt vote was 55-42. Marinette Marine awarded two more littoral combat ship contracts

MARINETTE, WI (WTAQ) - Marinette Marine has been awarded funding for construction of two of four 2013 littoral combat ships. 

The U-S Navy awarded the shipbuilder nearly $700-million for LCS ships to be completed by the summer of 2018. 

The LCS 13 and LCS 15 will be the fifth and sixth ships of a 10-ship multi-billion dollar contract originally awarded in 2010. 

The new contract does not add jobs.  Marinette Marine will maintain a workforce of around 1,400.  A spokesperson for the company says they have a backlog until 2016. 

The Navy will announce the names of the littoral combat ships at a later date.
