MERRILL, Wis (WSAU) The Merrill School Board will not have a change in leadership after a controversial email from the school board president.
In February Lynn Kautza sent a district-wide email thanking school district employees for their support during the primaries, and asking for their continued support in the general election in April. District policy doesn't allow for political email through school computers. And the district's email list isn't supposed to be used for political purposes.
Kautza read from a prepared statement last night and said she will not resign over the incident. She refused to answer additional questions. The school board also discussed the matter in closed session. They voted 5-3 to keep Kautza as president. She abstained from the vote.
Last night was the first time Kautza addressed the controversy. She'd been out of the country for the last three weeks.
