MOSINEE, Wis (WSAU) - Central Wisconsin Airport could be feeling the bite of sequestration by the end of the week.
The FAA is expected to make a decision on CWA and six other airports in Wisconsin that could lose direct air traffic control. Operations director Jim Olson says the closure of the tower would not mean the airport would shut down. "Operations for our airspace would move to Minneapolis."
The move could mean a slight slowdown for air traffic in busy or inclement conditions, but Olson says the airport would remain open. "We'd continue to operate and things would still flow smoothly."
An appeal on the closure is expected to be decided by Friday.
