WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) - The Wausau woman accused of poisoning and stabbing her ex-boyfriend’s dog to death has asked for a new defense attorney.
20-year-old Sean Janas was in Marathon County court today seeking new council. Judge Greg Grau granted the request to change from one public defender to another one, but refused to delay the trial that’s scheduled to begin May 1st.
Sean Janas allegedly made several disturbing diary entries detailing the pleasure she got from watching the dog whimper and cry. The dog named Mary died last June 4th.
She is currently jailed on a $2,500 dollar cash bond. She is charged with mistreatment of animals, exposing a domestic animal to a poisonous substance, and obstructing an officer. If convicted, she could get five years in prison and over $30,000 in fines.
