LADYSMITH, WI (WSAU) - The Rusk County man accused of shooting his wife and killing her has been found incompetent to stand trial.
67-year-old Donald Lazar of Hawkins allegedly shot his wife last December after an argument about paying their property taxes. The District Attorney says the victim called 9-1-1 but the call was cut off and dispatchers could not reach her. Lazar called 9-1-1 back later, saying he had shot and killed his wife.
Judge Steven Anderson ruled Tuesday that Lazar shall be taken to a secure mental health facility for treatment.
