MOSINEE, Wis (WSAU) The date's been set for closing the air traffic control tower at Central Wisconsin Airport. On May 5th, the tower will close because of sequester cuts from the FAA.
The airport itself will stay open. Pilots will coordinate take-offs and landings among themselves, with actual runway movements controlled by the tower operators at Minneapolis.
CWA was one of eight smaller airports in Wisconsin to be hit with cuts. The others are Chippewa Valley, Kenosha, Southern Wisconsin Regional in Janesville, La Crosse, Oshkosh, and Lawrence J Timmerman in Milwaukee.
